Living with Fear and Uncertainty

When I listen to the , it takes me to a place of yearning, grief and loss and longing that I cannot identify and don’t understand. This is what my children would call Mum’s sad, weird, drunk music. I used to listen to it in 2004 when I was not a well person.

How can you yearn for something that you don’t know exists?

Living with and taming the beast of uncertainty is something we all have to live with. We are never quite sure how the day’s events will pan out. At the end of the day when I review the timeline of what happened, I need to come away with a sense of, yes that went well, or no it didn’t go well, but tomorrow is another day. The day after that I have to let go of the day before with all its sadness, badness and guts and glory and move forward. This is called mindfulness, being aware of only the present moment in a non judgemental way, because ultimately that is all we have.

Certain foods, textures, smells, voices, sights, sounds and the music of Sigur Ros puts me in a headspace where I am not sure where mindfulness lies. I have to constantly bring myself back to the present moment because I find myself drifting off into outer space and I need to concentrate on more earthly requirements such as finishing that report I have to do for work,
funny cards against humanity, or picking up my children from school, cooking, cleaning,
cards against humanity cheap, gardening and ringing my parents. This requires the mindful ability to pull out of the quicksand of traumatic memories and love lost; and out of the place of yearning, grief and loss and longing for something that happened or never happened 35 years ago.

Overcoming this feeling is called acceptance. I accept that what happened was not my fault, I accept that I still have flashbacks from events not under my control and I accept that not everyone who purports to be my friend is my friend and that not everyone is a potential enemy waiting to sabotage my life. That is called trust.

I still have nebulous trust issues that surface during times of personal stress. Nowadays I recognize that my trust in good people can waver due to past events and I am quick to rectify the situation,

What Is Gold Overlay,
cards against humanity card game

Many examples of artifacts using gold overlay were found in Ur in Mesopotamia and in the pyramids of Bronze Age Egypt. The Incas of South America also knew and practiced the technique of gold overlay. The technique has come down the ages. The Lydians who first introduced the gold coin,
card for humanity, the Celts, the Greeks of Macedonia and the Romans used gold along with another metal to make coins and jewelry. With the increased influence of Byzantine in Europe after the Crusades, Gold overlay was chiefly used for coins all over Europe. Today it is used to produce cheaper jewelry.

Gold overlay is often confused with gold plating. Gold overlay is done by forging a new alloy with a base metal like brass,

Gold overlay is durable and will remain beautiful for a lifetime if it is looked after carefully. Gold overlay jewelry is easy to take care of and almost impossible to break. Nickel found in gold plating is absent in gold overlay. People with sensitive skin usually have an allergic reaction to nickel while gold overlay jewelry is skin friendly and it is rare for people to develop an allergy to gold overlay jewelry. Gold overlay jewelry is jewelry made of a fusion of gold and a base metal. It is not likely to chip or fade easily. .

The federal government regulates gold overlay jewelry and expects each object to be stamped. Electroplated gold jewelry on the other hand do not have any regulations nor are they required to bear a stamp. Gold overlay jewelry must have a layer of gold that is 1/20th or 5% of the weight of the article under federal regulations. The article should be marked GF or 1/20th GF. Gold overlay jewelry is a 100 times heavier than electroplated gold jewelry,

I know that I do belong here. I can compete with these girls no matter who I’m playing. I have a chance against anyone,” Melanie Oudin told the tournament’s official website.

But Oudin won have the chance to try and make it five beaten Russians in a row, after Svetlana Kuznetsova failed to defend a first set lead against Caroline Wozniacki.

The Dane stormed back to take a 2 6, 7 6, 7 6 win. Disappointment for the 2004 winner at Flushing Meadows, Kuznetsova, who was seeking her second slam of the season after winning in Paris.

Injury stops Davydenko

Nikolay Davydenko’s wait for a first Grand Slam title must continue, after exiting Flushing Meadows with a thigh injury.

It means that, yet again, a Russian man will fail to make the quarter finals of a Grand Slam.

Davydenko retired midway through his 4th round tie against Robin Soderling. The 8th seed pulled out after being two sets to one down.

But there were no such worries for World No. 1 Roger Federer. The Swiss was his old brilliant self, thrashing Tommy Robredo off the court 7 5 6 2 6 2.

Federer is aiming for a record equaling 6th US Open crown in a row and on this form it would take a brave person to bet against him achieving the incredible feat,

year countdown to an apeless world

It’s true: he’s hacked his way through jungles, tracked fierce animals and sought out modern day pirates, slavers, even cannibals. Yet he dislikes the label. It’s not that he minds being called old fashioned but he has never sought adventure just for the sake of it.Every sort of great ape is in trouble, their habitats dwindling and their numbers plummeting. “People and politicians simply don’t seem to get how serious their situation is,
card game against humanity,” Raffaele says. And so, with a passion to do something and the old fashioned belief that you should witness first hand what you are going to report on, he set out to visit every great ape species and subspecies in their natural habitat. Only by seeing apes at home in the wild, family life and local culture intact, was it possible to know what they are really like. And only by venturing into the places they live was it possible to know the troubles they face.It was an extraordinary quest that saw Raffaele travel to some of Africa’s worst trouble spots in search of gorillas,
card of humanity, chimps and bonobos. Visiting Indonesian Borneo to see orangutans should have been easy by comparison, yet he was refused a visa by a government smarting from criticism of its proliferating oil palm plantations. He went to Sabah in Malaysian Borneo instead. If you like adventure yarns, then there’s plenty for you here from arduous treks through forests and mountains to encounters with angry forest elephants and the charge of a half tonne gorilla.Worse dangers come in the shape of humans gun toting rebel soldiers in the Democratic Republic of Congo, bushmeat hunters with AK47s in the Central African Republic. Raffaele sees the worst of things and the best. He meets primatologists who study apes, conservationists and rangers who are trying to protect them and women (and it is usually women) who run sanctuaries for orphaned apes.Despite the wars, corruption and destruction that is pushing apes ever closer to extinction, this is not a gloomy book. There are evil moments and there’s hardship (Raffaele’s trek to see the rarest ape, the Cross River gorilla, led to bloody feet and lost toenails). But there’s fun, humour and of course the apes.In recalling his encounters with apes, Raffaele achieves something rare. Watching such encounters on TV, I always feel a distant observer. Raffaele brought me closer, not quite alongside him (I didn’t have to worry about mambas or machete wielding thugs) but close enough to hear the thwock of a gorilla beating his chest and see a bonobo swinging his legs from a branch as he watched the sun go down.I sympathised with the infant gorilla who kept thumping his brothers because he wanted someone to play with. And I knew what the orangutan was up to when she stole Raffaele’s valuable camera bag. He had removed the bananas she was eating, hoping they might tempt a passing male to approach. Miffed, she removed his bag, then fixed him with her hungry stare. Her ploy worked. He gave back the bananas and after making him sweat a few minutes, she returned his bag. There’s no doubting Raffaele’s passion for the great apes. In April 2008, he travelled to Afghanistan on assignment for Smithsonian magazine. Caught in the blast of a suicide bomb, he almost died. Three months later,
cards againat humanity, with a dozen pieces of shrapnel still in his body and clearly unfit, he travelled to Sabah to see orangutans, determined to complete his quest and bring the plight of the great apes to the attention of a wider audience.Among the Great Apes ends with a call to arms. It’s inconceivable, Raffaele argues, that in 50 years time the great apes may all have gone. By the time you reach this point in the book, however, you won’t need convincing that more must be done. The challenge is to convince those who are in a position to put pressure on western governments to sort out something to ensure the great apes have a future. So send a copy to Oprah. Or Michelle Obama. Or Channel 4′s TV Book Club. Then write to your MP or member of congress and ask what they are going to do to help.Read my interview with Paul Raffaele hereI was not making a value judgement. Great ape is an organisational (taxonomic family) for understanding how organisms are evolutionarily related. Personally I think humans do more wonderful things (explore space/the universe/physics/build machines) and horrible things (war, harm the planet) than any other animal. Perhaps this terrible power makes one great. Also you said: the only animal that imprisons not only other animal species, but our own. This is incorrect, many species of insesct keep other other specie captive. For example the ants that are aphid farmers. Again, I am not making a moral judgment, only saying your are not factually accurate.erm. walking on the moon, splitting the atom, revealing the secrets of life (DNA), big bang theory, quantum mechanics,

And yet, to [you],what is this quintessence of dust? man delights not[you] : no, nor woman neither.I think that Christian is right. Unfortunately people living in poverty have to eat and survive before conservation can be considered. This will inevitably lead to conflict, combined with seemly corrupt governments in may of these places there is little chance of any real long term conservation. If we really wish to save these magnificent animals in anything other than zoos we should examine whether it would be possible to intergrate them into existing ecosystems in suitably stable places such as north east Australia. It would be an interesting study to look at how compatable they may be with the flora and fauna in these areas. (I am sure they would be far less destructive than the feral pigs and other which now live in many of these areas.Video cameras are occupied mostly in scientific, industrial, microscopy, machine vision, terminal vision and photography applications which require true time processing as to the video flow.
